A Study of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice Relative to Tuberculosis of TB Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
The object of this study was to examine the Degree of knowledge and the attitude of TB patients, which were registered at both two City Health Centers and three District Health Centers. Those that held an interview with were only 180 patients. This basic data directly obtained from them during about 3 months from Jan. 15 to Apr. 30 in 1973.
The surveys were as follows;
1) Distribution by sex, respectively, showed that male respondents occupied 62.8%; female respondents 37.2%, and by age, the group between 20 and 29 years old of both sexes of all the responeents, respectively, took charge of 27.5% and 44.7% (the highest rate).
2) Education level showed that the graduates of primary school got 39.4%; the graduates of college or university 6.7%.
3) By occupation: agriculture took possession of 29.5% and the others 2.8%.
4) By living room; 2 and less took charge of 48.3%, and over 3 38.4%.
5) The place of treatment about TB said that Health Center got 77.8%, and drug store 1.5%
6) Those that completely knew the motivation of TB were 63.9%.
7) Those that found out TB to be communicable disease were 79.9%.
8) Their. Knowledge for the prevention of TB was positive respondents 58.3% and negative 5.6%.
9) The patients who bilieved that TB is heredity (disease) took charge of 7.8%.
10) 97.8% believed the TB is completely curable by medicine, and the others 2%.
11) 60.6% knew the name "BCG".
12) Those who knew the motivation of diagnosis for TB, by the result of X-ray exanPnation were 49.5%, and by subjective symptom 17.2%.
13) The other treatment on addition to curing TB by medicine showed that "nothing else" occupied 73.3%, and by exorcism or shamanisn and herb medicine, respectively, 5.0%. ,
14) The attitude while coughing said that "to cough unintendedly" took possession of 45%, and the intended attitude using the wastepaper etc. 16.1%.
15) In the measure of stutum, it was showed that "no appearance" got 33.9% and, the abnormal measure" attitude (ie: to spit somewhere) 18.9%.
16) In the room-ventilation those that were careless occupied 42.2% while 21.7% said the ventilation of room twice a week.
17) Handling tablewares, those that were using the things that were sterilized in boiling water took possession of 55.0%.
18) In using tablewares, those that were using what their family used with occupied 55.0% while 46.7% said that they used their own.
